For years, the Chevrolet Trax has been known for its affordable starting price and bit size features. For the 2024 model year, however, the Trax returns with a stunning new redesign. This also includes a more spacious cabin and enhanced safety features. The Chevy Trax is poised to be one of the most affordable SUVs when it hits dealerships in the spring of 2023. To find out what Springdale drivers can expect this model to offer when it arrives later this year.
What’s New for 2024?
It's been some time since the Trax has been on the market. But the new model, arriving sometime this spring, will be the best version Bentonville residents have ever seen. Along with a larger design, this model will feature a longer wheelbase, more rear legroom, and increased cargo capacity. This model will also come with more standard features.
When it arrives, the redesigned Trax will be available in five trim levels rather than just two from previous generations. A new 137-hp turbocharged three-cylinder engine will be under the hood. This is surprising since previous models could output 155 horsepower.
Performance
As mentioned, the new Chevy Trax will come standard will a turbocharged 137-hp three-cylinder engine. This engine will be attached to a six-speed automatic transmission. This is the only power train across all five trims, and it’s front-wheel drive only. This engine design is the same as the one in the Trailblazer. When tested, the Trailblazer reached 0 - 60 in 9.4 seconds. Because of this, we estimate the Trax to do the same.
No official report has been made about the Chevy Trax’s fuel economy. We can assume that this model will have a similar rating to the Trailblazer since they share the same engine. For reference, the Chevy Trailblazer gets an estimated 29/33 miles per gallon.
Interior
With a complete redesign, the interior of the Chevy Trax is also completely changed. Its driver-facing infotainment screen and climate controls are placed at an optimal distance from the driver. While the rest of the interior is made from new materials. Due to the longer wheelbase, passengers have three more inches of rear legroom and more cargo space. Also found in the interior are heated front seats and steering wheel, and a sunroof.
Technology
Inside the LS and 1RS trims, an eight-inch infotainment touchscreen comes standard. Found in the LT trim, however, an 11.0-inch infotainment touchscreen and an eight-inch gauge cluster are standard. Other available features include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
Safety
Every Trax comes standard with the Chevy Safety Assist. These features include automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control.
